CONCERT GOERS GIVE RAF A THUMBS UP

"Enjoyable", "Top Class", "Excellent" and "Brilliant as always" are just some of the comments made by audience members who have attended the current concert tour by the Bands of the Royal Air Force.

Although only recently begun, the RAF in Concert tour is already proving extremely popular with audiences.

Feedback received from the tour so far includes: "Once again this was a first class concert given by first class musicians and singers." "As a brass musician myself, one can only stand back in awe and envy at the talent and expertise displayed by the RAF musicians.

Wing Commander Stubbs is to be complimented on the excellent concert that he and his band gave." "The whole evening was excellent. The variety of music was extremely entertaining – equally, the skills of the musicians and singers. I am proud to be British!" "What a fantastic show – there were brilliant musicians, great singers and marvellous acoustics and the concert was nicely themed."

Many in the audiences are long-time supporters of the concert tour. One said: "We have attended the RAF in Concert for several years and have never been disappointed. This year's concert was one of the best," whilst another wrote "It was an excellent concert as always. Very high standards of musicianship are maintained and demonstrated year on year. It was a varied programme with something for everyone."

Tour manager Philippa Hayday-Brown said: "We are extremely happy with how the tour is going so far. The feedback we have received is fantastic and so positive. The variety of music within the programme seems to have hit the right note and audiences' have walked away happy having had a really enjoyable evening."

During the tour a special Unsung Heroes' Book of Remembrance is available for audience members to record the names of friends, family and comrades who have served in the RAF or who currently serve. Following the tour, the book will be put on display at the RAF's spiritual home – St Clement Danes Church in London.

Among those already recorded in the book include former members of Bomber Command, the RAF Regiment, the Women's Royal Air Force (WRAF) as well as pilots, navigators and technicians. Also featured are the names of current RAF personnel serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
