AIR CADET WINS FLYING EXCELLENCE TROPHY

Cadet Warrant Officer Andrew Dunn has been awarded the 2009 Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Trophy for Flying Excellence.

Andrew, who is a member of 1114 (Gosforth) Squadron, Durham and Northumberland Wing ATC, was awarded with the Trophy during the recent Royal Air Force in Concert performance at the Cadogan Hall in London, by the Chairman of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire.

The Trophy, which recognises flying excellence, is awarded annually by the Trust to the top performing Air Cadet who, in the opinion of the Air Cadet Organisation has shown both outstanding flying ability and personal qualities.  Andrew completed the 12 hour flying scholarship course earlier this year at Tayside Aviation and is now hoping to join the Royal Air Force and train to be a pilot.

"I was ecstatic when I heard I had won the trophy, it was most unexpected" said Andrew.
