GOING GREENER WITH GRUNDON

ORGANISERS OF the Royal International Air Tattoo have teamed up with Oxfordshire's Grundon Waste Management in a bid to make the airshow as sustainable as possible.
The Air Tattoo had been looking for a recycling partner to help in identifying more environmentally-acceptable ways of collecting and disposing of waste, and Grundon was selected because of its strong commitment to recycling, and its extensive experience of outdoor events.
Matthew Ball, Grundon's Special Events Manager said: "We are working closely with the Air Tattoo to deliver a simple, highly-effective and proven system for the collection of mixed recyclables. These include cardboard, paper, mixed colour glass bottles, plastic bottles and metal cans – in short a substantial proportion of the waste that over 170,000 visitors are expected to generate during the event."
Tim Prince, Director of the Air Tattoo, said: "We're delighted to welcome Grundon to the team, and look forward to working with them as part of our plan to introduce new recycling initiatives each year."
The Royal International Air Tattoo is staged annually in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust which, in turn, awards grants in support of the RAF family, including serving personnel and Air Cadets. Since it was established in January 2005, the Trustees have awarded over £895,000 to a wide range of projects and initiatives.
