AIR TATTOO WELCOMES GERMAN TANKER TO STATIC LINE-UP

A German Air Force A310 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) is the latest aircraft to confirm participation in the Royal International Air Tattoo later this month.

The aircraft, which will be on static display, is a military derivative of the Airbus A310 airliner. It is designed as a dual-role air refuelling tanker and cargo transport aircraft. It will come from the FBS BMVg based in Koln.

The German Air Force, which has seven A310-300s has equipped four for the tanker role, the first entering service in 2004.

A spokesman for the Air Tattoo said: "We are already grateful to the German Air Force for supporting the Air Tattoo with two Tornados and a C-160D Transall. To also send an A310 MMRT is an added bonus and reflects the excellent relationship we have enjoyed over the years with the Luftwaffe."
