AMERICAN VISITOR FLIES IN

IT MIGHT be a familiar visitor to the Royal International Air Tattoo, taking place this weekend at RAF Fairford, but no-one tires of seeing the venerable American B-52 bomber.

The eight-engined Boeing, delivered to the United States Air Force during the 1960s, arrived bright and early at RAF Fairford today (Thursday). The aircraft had flown through the night from its base at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, to make a soft touch down on Fairford's long runway, much to the delight of the enthusiasts gathered in the Park & View areas at both ends of the airfield.

The B-52 joins a number of aircraft that have flown in from the United States specially for show including a KC-135 tanker, a P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft from the United States Navy.

E-tickets are available for both days of the airshow here.

Tickets will not be available at the gate but can still be bought, subject to availability, at branches of Barclays Bank, Little Chefs and at Tourist Information Centres.
