BIDDER 'BITES' AIR TATTOO OFFER FOR PUDSEY
Organisers of the Royal International Air Tattoo have once again joined forces with BBC Children in Need to put together a special package to help raise money for the charity.

The package, which was auctioned by Sir Terry Wogan on his BBC Radio 2 morning show on Sunday (November 13), offered the winning bidder a flight to next summer's Air Tattoo on board a De Havilland Vampire T11, an historic RAF jet engine fighter. The winner and their guest would also be able to enjoy the world's greatest airshow from the best seats in the house.

After intense bidding, an incredible £9,000 was bid by a lady from Farnham in Surrey for this unique opportunity.

An Air Tattoo spokesman said: "We are delighted with the amount the package went for. Since 2006, we have helped raise more than £100,000 for BBC Children in Need and this year's package continues the excellent relationship between the airshow and this very worthwhile charity. We are sure the winning bidder will have a memorable time with us in July."

Next year's Air Tattoo takes place on July 7-8 and will be staging, with the Royal Air Force, a special tribute to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Vampire T11 was chosen for the package as it too is celebrating a 60-year milestone – it entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1952.

Tickets for next summer's Air Tattoo have now gone on sale with a limited number of £29 Super Earlybird tickets, a £10 discount on this year's standard ticket price. All accompanied under-16s go free.
