Chipmunk WP903

DeHavilland Chipmunk WP903 (G-BCGC) is a small aircraft with a big reason to take part in this summer's Royal International Air Tattoo.

The aircraft, which will be attending the airshow as part of the Air Tattoo's 'Queen's Diamond Jubilee' celebrations, was used by HRH Prince Charles for flying training and was painted in Royal Flight colours for the task.

The aircraft, which is still in its distinctive Royal Flight colours, is currently owned by Stephen Geeves and operated by the Henlow Chipmunk Club based at RAF Henlow.

Prince Charles learned to fly on this Chipmunk culminating in his first solo flight at RAF Bassingbourn on January 14, 1969. It still features the red warning lamp (the 'Parrot') which was a specific modification during its Royal service.
