RAF Typhoon FGR4s

Nos 1 and 6 Squadrons, stationed at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray, Scotland, will each contribute a Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 to the static park. Since deliveries commenced in 2003, nine years on from the first Eurofighter prototype's maiden flight, the RAF has continually expanded the capabilities of its Typhoon force. The type has assumed responsibility for the UK's QRA (quick reaction alert) air defence capability, stationed at both Lossiemouth and RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, taken over the air defence of the Falkland Islands, and shown its potency in the air-to-ground role - in which the RAF has, among the Typhoon's operating nations, led the way - when making its combat debut during Operation 'Ellamy' over Libya in 2011. More recently, Typhoons have been engaged in the fight against so-called Islamic State. With its twin Eurojet EJ200 afterburning turbofan engines, 'carefree handling', hands on throttle and stick technology and advanced weaponry, the Typhoon is among the world's leading multi-role combat aircraft.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”
