International Air Tattoo's RAF Village is a showcase for those personnel and
their equipment that enable air and space power and the displays from the 2017 show represented a Service in
constantly high operational demand, with a highly talented, trained and
motivated work force.
As the RAF moves ever closer to its centenary anniversary in 2018, the 2017 display celebrated its many achievements in terms of Air Power, world class technological capability and training and innovation.
The centrepiece of the 2017 Village was once again the mighty A400M Atlas transporter from LXX Sqn, RAF Brize Norton. Visitors had the opportunity to climb on board, learn about its various roles and talk the crews that fly it. They could also meet some of the RAF Display Teams set to wow the crowds, and 2017 saw a special display from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight who celebrated their 60th Anniversary.
The RAF Village provided a unique opportunity for visitors to meet over 200 RAF personnel from both the Regulars and the Reserves who shared with them their day-to-day roles and how this links in to maintaining our defence capability and projecting air power for the UK. The RAF provides an attractive, varied and unique career opportunity with over 60 different job roles and apprenticeships available. Visitors up for the challenge could speak to our careers team who were located near the Chinook CH47 experience and the immersive Skytech cyberspace simulator. The younger generation sought out the climbing walls and simulators operated by the RAF Air Cadets who also provided exciting opportunities and activities.
