Chari-tea Grant Earns Squadron 'Roar of Thanks'

Published: 13 Apr 2015

Service personnel from 501 (County of Gloucester) Sqn, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, at RAF Brize Norton, are celebrating after being awarded a grant for the fitting out of a new crew room.

The award of £4,820.50 by the RAF Charitable Trust means the crew room can be fitted out with a range of kitchen equipment, a tv, laptop, dartboard, flight simulator, dvd player and wi-fi. The facility will be open for use by Reservists, other service personnel and their families, and an official Open Day is planned for June.

Aircraftsman Mike Rickwood said: "A massive 501 (County of Gloucester) Sqn RAuxAF 'roar of thanks' to the Charitable Trust for their generosity.  As a new RAF Reservist I have been amazed at the professional training we receive and now during breaks we will be able to chill, enjoy a cuppa, watch TV, have a go on the flight simulator or use the wifi: it will make our training weekends even more enjoyable.  The Charitable Trust is definitely my cuppa tea!"

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Television Presenter

“All the thrills, excitement and noise of a Grand Prix, but in the air!”

Jenson Button, Formula 1 Racing Driver
