Additional Safety and Security measures for 2017

Safety is and always has been our number one priority, both in the air and on the ground. We are very proud of our safety record and work throughout the year with all the relevant authorities to make sure we have taken every reasonable measure towards running a safe airshow. Following the tragic events of Shoreham in August 22, 2015, we carried out a thorough review of all our processes surrounding air display flying and subjected them to external scrutiny. We comply with all relevant regulations relating to UK air displays and, in a number of areas, we exceed these requirements.

Safety remains at the core of everything we do and we are introducing additional measures this year to improve the overall safety arrangements for the show. In addition to those who have bought tickets and will be inside the showground, we also consider those people who choose to come and watch the show from outside the airfield. Additional vehicle and pedestrian restrictions have been put in place along some the roads and verges in the vicinity of RAF Fairford. Members of the public not intending to enter the airfield are strongly encouraged to observe any no waiting/no entry restrictions and they must not park on verges, cycle or footpaths. These restrictions will be actively policed over the show weekend so we would urge anyone without a ticket from coming to the area. If anyone is still determined to observe the flying display from outside the showground, the safest place to do so is 100 meters south of the runway, behind the crowd line on the Kempsford (south) side of the airfield.

Responding to recent events, our security measures have also been reviewed by both the civilian and military police. Additional security measures will be in place for the 2017 show. Please allow a little extra time to get through security and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding of the importance of all these new measures.
