Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
Providing one of the many highlights in this summer's bumper flying display will be a demonstration of Boeing's majestic multi-role strike fighter, the F-18 Super Hornet flown by a Boeing company test pilot.
Sporting US Navy markings, the cutting edge aircraft can perform a variety of roles including day/night strikes with precision-guided weapons, fighter escort, close air support, maritime strike and reconnaissance.
The Super Hornet, which first entered service in 1999, last appeared at the Air Tattoo in 2010. It has a maximum speed in excess of Mach 1.8 and has a combat ceiling of 50,000ft.
