Hellenic Air Force A-7E/TA-7C Corsair II

The Hellenic Air Force is now the world's only remaining operator of the LTV A-7 Corsair II, a rugged attack aircraft that came to prominence through its outstanding combat record with the US Navy and US Air Force in the Vietnam War. The type serves today with only one Hellenic Air Force squadron, 336 Mira at Araxos, which will send two Corsair IIs to RIAT 2014. Greece originally ordered 65 new-build Corsair IIs, these aircraft being designated the A-7H and TA-7H, with first deliveries in 1975. Augmenting them during the 1990s were 62 ex-US Navy A-7E and TA-7C airframes, and it is these that remain in active service, but not for much longer. Retirement is scheduled for later in 2014.
