Hellenic Air Force F-16 Demo Team 'Zeus'
After making their debut appearance at the 2015 Air Tattoo and walking away with the award for best aircraft livery, the Hellenic Air Force's Demo Team Zeus are making a welcome return with their brightly painted Lockheed Martin F-16C Block 52+ Fighting Falcon. Greece has one of the largest fleets of F-16s in Europe, flying the type alongside Dassault Mirage 2000s and the McDonnell Douglas F-4 and RF-4 Phantoms. The Block 52+ model of the F-16 can be equipped with conformal fuel tanks, which sit on the upper fuselage and can carry as much fuel as underwing tanks, but are considerably more aerodynamic increasing the aircraft's range. In Greek service, the F-16 is tasked with air-to-air, air-to-ground roles as well as the suppression of enemy air defences. Three HAF squadrons are equipped with Block 52+ F-16C/Ds, two of them being part of 115 Combat Wing at Souda, which provides the 'Zeus' display aircraft.
