Swedish Air Force JAS 39 Gripen

The JAS 39 Gripen multi-role fighter is the latest in a long line of outstanding jet combat aircraft produced by Swedish manufacturer Saab. However, it differs from its stablemates in having achieved a good deal of international sales success, apart from being procured by the Swedish Air Force. The Gripen prototype first flew towards the end of 1988; Sweden bought an initial 204 examples of the early 'A' and 'B' model aircraft. Also appearing in the RIAT 2016 static line up will be the two-seat 'D' model which can be utilised for type conversion and weapons training, alongside standard operational missions. Both flying and static aircraft are provided by F7 Wing based at Satenas.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”
