With over 300+ aircraft participating each year, upwards of 170,000 visitors and support from the Royal Air Force and some of the world's leading aerospace companies, the Royal International Air Tattoo has been acknowledged as not only the world’s largest military airshow but also one of the UK's premier outdoor events for the whole family!

Among the highlights at the 2008 show, will be the UK flying debut by the US Air Force’s most advanced jet fighter, the F-22A Raptor plus displays by legendary World War Two aircraft such as the Spitfire, Lancaster and Hurricane.

There will also be the opportunity to marvel at a variety of special tributes – both in the air and on the ground – as the Air Tattoo prepares to stage official celebrations marking the 90th anniversary of the Royal Air Force, including an explosive demonstration highlighting the hi-tech capabilities of RAF aircraft currently in service around the globe.

Also taking to the skies will be seven of the world’s greatest aerobatic display teams, including the legendary RAF Red Arrows, who will provide a breath-taking theatrical feast of close formation, precision flying.

But there’s far more to enjoy at the Air Tattoo than just the fabulous flying. On the ground, youngsters can meet the pilots and sit in the aircraft and enjoy the critically-acclaimed Tri@RIAT attraction, which brings together a feast of entertaining and interactive activities specifically designed to inspire and excite young minds.

Add to this a rousing outdoor evening concert and free entry for accompanied under-16s, and it’s clear that the Royal International Air Tattoo, held in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, offers unbeatable value for money.

It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you’ve ever seen in the West End and as loud as anything you’ve ever heard at Knebworth.

History of the Air Tattoo
The first Air Tattoo was staged at North Weald airfield in Essex with just over 100 aircraft taking part. From these small beginnings the show became the International Air Tattoo in 1976, and recognition of its unique status was granted by Her Majesty The Queen in 1996, when the current Royal International Air Tattoo title was adopted in 1996. From 1973 to 1983 RIAT was held at Greenham Common before moving to RAF Fairford in 1985.

The Air Tattoo is staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, a charity set up in 2005 to support the wider RAF family. As well as seeking to develop a spirit of air-mindedness in youngsters, it also aims to promote excellence with the Royal Air Force.

On behalf of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, organisers of the Royal International Air Tattoo, we look forward to extending a warm welcome to all visitors.
