Cosford Team Celebrates New Kit With Victory

Fourteen athletes from RAF Cosford christened their new kit, bought with the help of a grant from the RAF Charitable Trust, by winning their local cross-country league.
The team from RAF Cosford Running Club wore their new strip to compete in the last 10km race of the season in the Midland Police & Services Cross Country League, and they raced home to victory at the Tally Ho Centre, Birmingham, receiving a team trophy and individual shields.
The Trust donated £689.30, half the cost of the kit, with the rest being paid for by the team members. Providing branded clothing for the team members to wear as they compete in the West Midlands Inter-Services Cross Country League and further afield.
Team manager Sgt Darren Jones said: "The RAF Cosford Running Club is immensely grateful to the RAF Charitable Trust for the financial assistance they have been generous enough to give us. We now have some top-quality kit to wear whilst training and competing."
"With the introduction of our corporate branded clothing we are now able to promote the RAF Cosford Running Club, the RAF Charitable Trust and, moreover, the Royal Air Force as a whole to the general public whilst competing in open events up and down the country".
Sgt Jones has already worn his kit in the Stafford Half Marathon, and over the next 12 months team members will be sporting the Trust-sponsored gear in the 24hr Adidas Thunder Run, the London Marathon, several Tough Mudder races, and the Great North Run, as well as RAF events including Benson road races, the Halton hills race, the RAF Championships, the RAF Henlow race and the RAF Honington race.
He adds: "The Trust grant has helped pay for a technical t-shirt, tracksuit and hooded top, complete with RAF Cosford and Charitable Trust branding, and these have helped us demonstrate team spirit and professionalism by looking the part."
