Trust Grant Helps Fund Families And Friends Day

A grant of £1,000 from the RAF Charitable Trust helped families and friends of service personnel at RAF Marham enjoy a special day of entertainment and air displays.
The Families and Friends Day, on the theme of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, was organised by Sqn Ldr Steve Donnellan, and charities including the Trust were invited to attend.
Sqn Ldr Donnellan said: "This is a very special day which enables families and friends of serving personnel to come onto the Station and see what their loved ones do. There are static displays where people can ask questions and children can learn about their serving parent's role, as well as activities for all ages. This year we also put together a knock-out flying display including the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flying with a Typhoon, the RAF Falcons and many other military, historic and civilian aircraft displays."
The Day ended in style with a 1940s party enjoyed by over 1,000 personnel in a hangar, with historic aircraft as a back-drop.
Flt Lt Michael Corns said: "The contribution of funds by the RAF Charitable Trust was essential to the success of the event. It was used to provide a variety of attractions and family entertainment within the ground display arena and later on for the evening event."
He continued: "The feedback that I have received has been excellent, and the range of activities, flying and ground displays, and value for money for visitors surpassed all other Station Families & Friends Days."
"Thank you to the Trust for supporting Families and Friends Day."
