The Royal Air Force in Concert Tour 2015 kicks off next month for a 16-venue tour staged in support of the RAF Charitable Trust.
Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the tour will serve as a musical tribute to honour those brave and courageous heroes who helped defend Britain in 1940 and celebrate their legacy with the men and women of today's Royal Air Force who 'Secure our Skies'.
Whether combatting the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain or scrambling Typhoons to escort Russian Bears off the Cornish coast in 2015, the crucial role of the Royal Air Force in securing our skies remains as important today as it was 75 years ago.
The prestigious 16-venue tour begins at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on October 17 and finishes at the Lighthouse, Poole on December 10, with a brand new venue added to this year's Tour - the Belfast Waterfront on December 1. Compering duties will be shared once again by, Ken Bruce, Alan Dedicoat and Lynn Bowles. Tour vocalists will be Emer McParland and either Squadron Leader Matthew Little or Corporal Matt Walker.
The evening will include rousing military marches, popular songs from the era, plus big band numbers and classical pieces that showcase the virtuosity of the musicians, including Bernstein's Mambo, Holst's Mars and Goodwin's Battle of Britain March.
