Following a £300 grant from the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, a team of six personnel from RAF Cosford took on the country's leading team development event.
The UK Challenge is a corporate event which tests participants on their mental and physical skills through a three-day course consisting of mountain biking, swimming, trail running and canoeing. The grant was used to purchase kit for the six personnel who took part in the event, competing against 70 other teams.
Team captain, Cpl Tracey Down said: "This gruelling event tested us in so many ways. At various stages we had to complete mental ability tests, like anagrams and riddles, to enable us to progress to the next stage. It was a challenge not only about fitness, but encompassed patience, strategy, planning, communication, leadership, compassion and teamwork - all skills important to a career in the RAF."
Organisers of the UK Challenge designed the event for businesses to help motivate staff and better equip them to deal with a range of challenges faced in the workplace. Taking part in the three-day trial provided the team from RAF Cosford with the opportunity to showcase and build upon the skills held by RAF personnel.
