Air Cadets Set a New Standard

Published: 16 May 2016

Air Cadets will be beaming with pride as they parade through Bodmin under their brand new squadron banner.
With the original banner having seen better days, the RAF Charitable Trust was delighted to step in with a £300 grant to enable 2533 Squadron to purchase a replacement.

The unit had raised £200 of the £700 required themselves, with a further £200 donation from the Bodmin branch of the RAF Association completing the costs.

With the squadron already in receipt of the new standard, civic dignitaries and Officers of the Wing will be invited to attend the official dedication ceremony, to be held at the local church with parents and supporters in attendance.

"The Squadron is looking forward to parading with pride, carrying the new standard at many special events including celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the Air Cadet Organisation Unit," said Chairman Sqn Ldr Stanley Beighton.

"We have some 40 cadets and staff, the only light blue footprint seen in town, who will benefit from the enhancement of the squadron and wing esprit de corps. Many thanks to the RAF Charitable Trust for helping us to buy this new standard, which will be displayed with great pride."

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”
