Squadrons tea bar makeover will benefit many

Published: 15 Feb 2017

Thanks largely to the RAF Charitable Trust, a University of Birmingham Air Squadron (UBAS) tea bar and rest area at RAF Cosford has been given a long overdue makeover.

A grant of £4,500 has enabled the squadron to renovate and replace its old tea bar kitchen with new work surfaces, sinks and kitchen equipment. Improvements to a small kitchen in the student rest room were also made.

Sqn Ldr Ged Sheppeck, Officer Commanding UBAS said the improvements would help make the Squadron a better and more enjoyable place to work.

He said: The new kitchen is warmly welcomed by the 53 current UBAS students, as well as the 35 UBAS and Air Experience Flight staff who regularly use the facilities. Over the course of its lifetime the area will benefit hundreds of staff and students, ranging from the newest officer cadets starting their first flights, to Air Marshals and others who come to teach this newest generation of flying enthusiasts.

"On behalf of all of these people, both present and future, UBAS would like to thank the Charitable Trust for all its help."

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”
