RAF Squash Association members stood out from the crowd during a recent visit to Canada as they donned new overseas kit funded by the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust (RAFCT).
In a bid to broaden their experience and development, the team of 12 headed to Edmonton where they were given the opportunity to play a very high standard of squash with some of the world's most exciting players.
During their visit the team took part in a number of competitive matches, winning their three fixtures against Edmonton Squash Club, Bankers Hall Club and Glencoe Club. Not only that, they were able to participate in Alberta's Premier Annual Squash event, the ReidBuilt Homes Edmonton Open.
Flt Lt Phil Rea said: "This was a hugely positive overseas visit for the RAF Squash Association. Not only did we win all of our team matches, but we successfully built and maintained good relationships with our Canadian counterparts.
"The support and generosity of the Trust, which granted us £1,434, enabled us to purchase a tour kit. This ensured that we were able to project a cohesive, uniformed and professional image throughout the tour. Our new gear was a big talking point at every location we visited as people wanted to know who we were and what we were doing in Canada, meaning players were able to talk about their role in the RAF and promote the Trust.
"On behalf of the RAF Squash Association, I'd like to thank RAFCT for its support which has played a big part in our tour of Canada this year and we are extremely appreciative of its backing."
