RAF Police Go Head-to-Head

Published: 08 Nov 2016

RAFCT Trustee Ian Beresford lent his support and encouragement to the RAF Police Rugby team (RAFPR) recently as they battled it out against the South Wales Police at Cardiff Arms Park.

The hard-fought game, in which the South Wales Police prevailed 22-5, formed part of the team's preparations ahead of their operational visit to New York later this month which will include a number of rugby fixtures, including games against teams from the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department.

As well as playing against some of New York's finest, the visit, which has been co-funded by the RAF Charitable Trust, will provide the team with opportunities to participate in coaching sessions for a US based sports charity, promoting sport for disadvantaged children. The team will also deliver presentations on the role of the RAF Police to Columbia and New York Metropolitan Universities.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Television Presenter

“All the thrills, excitement and noise of a Grand Prix, but in the air!”

Jenson Button, Formula 1 Racing Driver

“Probably the most complete air show Iíve ever been to!”

Al Worden, Apollo 15 Astronaut
