RAF Typhoon

One of the world's most potent fast jets will be put through its paces by the Royal Air Force at this summer's Air Tattoo.

Visitors will be able to experience the aircraft's manoeuvrability and immense power as it thunders through the air for what is always one of the highlights in the flying display.

The Typhoon provides the RAF with a multi-role combat aircraft, capable of performing in the full spectrum of air operations, from air policing to peace support, through to high intensity conflict. In 2011 it took part in Operation Ellamy to enforce the no-fly zone over Libya, while in 2012, RAF Typhoons will be helping provide security over London during the Olympic Games.

Last year, Air Tattoo visitors saw a Typhoon display by one of BAE Systems' development aircraft complete with full weapons load and piloted by its chief test pilot for combat air Mark Bowman.

This year, the RAF Typhoon display will be flown by Sqn Ldr Scott Loughran, from No6 Squadron, at RAF Leuchars in Scotland.

As well as seeing the Typhoon demonstrate its manoeuvrability and immense power in the flying display, visitors can get a close-up view of the Typhoon in the static park.
