Only the USA and Israel operate more F-16s than Turkey, making the Turkish Air Force one of the world's leading users of this famous fighter. The single-seat F-16Cs and two-seat F-16Ds it operates from six bases - around 240 in all, with 30 more ordered late last year - were built locally by Turkish Aerospace Industries. The Solotürk demonstration, piloted this year by Capt Yusuf Kurt, uses a specially-painted Block 40 F-16C from 141 Filo (Squadron) stationed at the 4th Main Jet Base in Akıncı near Ankara. Turkey first sent F-16s to the Air Tattoo at Cottesmore in 2001; Solotürk made its debut in 2011.
