Built
at Prestwick by Scottish Aviation, later absorbed into British Aerospace, the
Bulldog was a military trainer development of the Beagle Pup civilian light
aircraft. Following the Bulldog's inaugural flight in 1969, its first operator
was Sweden, but the RAF followed on with an order for 130, using it to replace
the Chipmunk with the University Air Squadrons and later the Air Experience
Flights. The RAF Bulldogs were replaced by the Grob Tutor in 2001, but since
then many have been sold onto the civil market, including the three attending
RIAT 2015. They come from Pitbull Formation, based at RAF Halton.
