One of the most distinctive shapes in the sky is the Extra EA400 six-seat touring aircraft, developed by Walter Extra GmbH of Dinslaken, Germany, a firm better-known for its unlimited competition aerobatic aircraft. The EA400 first took to the air in 1996. It boasts a pressurised cabin and very light weight thanks to carbon fibre construction, this and the 350hp Continental piston engine helping deliver rapid performance. A turboprop version, the EA500, has also been developed. The EA400 is being provided by Swiss pilot Bruno Stocker, a long-time friend of the show.
