BRAZIL CONFIRMS TWO AIRCRAFT FOR 2013
They'll be doing the samba in Swindon, the tango in Taunton and the lambada in Leeds!
Not to be outdone by Colombia's recent announcement that it would be participating in this summer's Air Tattoo, its neighbour Brazil has confirmed that it too will be taking part with two military aircraft!
A longstanding and loyal supporter of the Air Tattoo, the Brazilian Air Force – the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB) - said it planned to send an R-99 and KC-130H to the UK this summer to take part in the world's greatest airshow.
The R-99 is modern aerial surveillance aircraft used by the Brazilians to patrol both the vast Amazon basin and its borders. The KC-130H is a tanker version of the C-130 Hercules transport aircraft that has been modified to carry out a refuelling role.
Both aircraft will be located in the static park.
Aircraft Operations Deputy Director Tom Gibbons said: ""We are absolutely delighted to hear the news that the Brazilian Air Force will once again be attending the Royal International Air Tattoo, this time with a KC-130H Hercules and an Embraer R-99 surveillance aircraft."The Brazilians are staunch RIAT supporters and it is fantastic that they have committed valuable resource to the show this early in the year. The unusual R-99 aircraft fits neatly into our operational SkyGuardian theme and we look forward to welcoming both sets of crews to Fairford in July."
