The United States Air Force's Global Strike Command B-2A 'Spirit' stealth bomber has landed at the Royal International Air Tattoo!

The aircraft last appeared at RAF Fairford for the airshow in 1999. It has completed a mammoth 10,000-mile round trip from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to take its place in RIAT's static aircraft park, where it is sure to be one of the stars of the show.

The B-2 first flew in 1989 and is a low-observable long-range heavy bomber. Capable of penetrating sophisticated air defences, Spirit can operate at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet and can cover the globe with just a single air-to-air refuelling.
