Job Title: Apprentice Infrastructure Technician

Salary: £243.75 weekly wage

Location: Fairford, Gloucestershire

Job Type: Full Time Expected Duration 18 months

The RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises organise a host of aviation related events including the Royal International Air Tattoo that attracts 185,000 visitors for a weekend of spectacular aviation action every year. Our commercial activities enable us to gift our profits to The RAF Charitable Trust in order to foster and encourage an interest in aviation amongst young people and to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals - whether engineers, pilots or ground crew.

A great opportunity has arisen for a talented and versatile individual to join the team. This person should be keen to get involved in all aspects of C & IT; from IT systems and hardware, through to telecoms, radios and both cloud & locally hosted services. They will be supporting a busy office which delivers for the world's largest military air show.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Company's IT&C strategy and policies
  • Implement IT&C policies for RAFCTE and associated companies
  • Support the management of the physical and cyber protection of the IT&C systems and maintain RAFCTE PCI status
  • Maintain the support and infrastructure for IT&C CIP projects
  • Support, maintain and administer IT&C hardware and applications to ensure they are "fit for purpose" and aligned with the IT&C strategy
  • Support changes in IT&C capabilities
  • Support all IT&C RIAT activities
  • Support other Group events
  • Maintain register of software, versions, and user licenses
  • Maintain all necessary licenses for radio systems, IT&C systems
  • Provide Helpdesk support to resolve company and associated businesses IT&C issues, escalating to IT&C Manager or external provider where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain user Application profiles
  • Support external IT&C contacts telephone system developments
  • Participate with the team of volunteers before, during and after RIAT; supporting recruitment and training co-ordinating workloads and motivating
  • Provide skill training requirements for all employees
  • Support ad hoc user training

About You:

  • Comfortable socializing within the company and with volunteers
  • Awareness of time management and deadlines
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Able to identify and seek clarification on conflicts in tasks and multiple projects
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Eager to learn and develop skills
  • Ideally 'A' Level standard of education or equivalent in ICT
  • GCSE maths, English & ICT grade 9 - 4 (A* - C) or equivalents
  • An interest in IT and Communications
  • Ideally trained in Windows network administration, maintenance and repair of hardware and experience in window server administration
  • Interest in Project/Event management
