Job Title: Merchandise Assistant

Salary: £19,300 pro rata

Location: Fairford, Gloucestershire

Job Type: Full Time (Fixed Term Contract) 20 May until 2 August 2019

A great opportunity to join the team behind the world's greatest military air show has now become available. The successful candidate will be comfortable working both in an office and in a stock handling environment within our warehouse, with a flexible and proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities. With strong numerical and inter-personal skills, the Merchandise Assistant role will be primarily focused upon the merchandise and programme sales operations, preparing and reconciling stock and working closely with the volunteer team.

 

Main Responsibilities include:

 

  • Administrative support
  • Promote and sell Air Tattoo merchandise and souvenir programmes
  • Liaising with suppliers and staff regarding orders placed on behalf of other teams
  • Assisting with the receipt and checking off merchandise and company clothing orders
  • Liaising with souvenir programme editor regarding information required, proof sign off and production/delivery
  • Prepare and count stock for each sale outlet, keeping accurate records of allocations
  • Liaising with the volunteer team to ensure that all pre-show information is effectively communicated and queries responded to in a timely manner
  • Working as a Sales Assistant over the Air Tattoo, responsible for sales and stock control alongside the volunteer team to deliver a first-class customer experience
  • Keeping accurate records of any stock movements/transfers
  • Ensure merchandising area and stock cage in company warehouse is clean, tidy and organised in the lead up to the Air Tattoo and post event
  • Overseeing return of unsold stock and programmes to company warehouse alongside volunteer team supervisors
  • Completing post show reconciliations of unsold stock and programmes

 

About You:

To be suitable for this role you will have:

 

  • Excellent IT skills with (Excel & Word)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage pressure and conflicting demands
  • An ability to prioritise tasks and deliver to agreed timescales and deadlines
  • A proactive and solution-focussed approach
  • To be flexible in your approach to the role i.e. variety of tasks
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Experience of working in a retail environment, including cash handling
  • Experience of stock taking and control
  • The ability to work on your own initiative
