The RAF Experience provided a unique opportunity for you to meet over 200 RAF personnel who are keen to share with you their day-to-day roles and experiences. The RAF provides an exciting career opportunity with over 60 different jobs on offer.
In 2018 you could visit our new Operation Virtual Reality Experience; taking you through a 24-hour period of life in the RAF including a take-off in the F-35B Lightning II, overseeing a humanitarian aid parachute drop in an A400M Atlas, and an aircraft intercept in a Typhoon fighter jet.
Visitors could also meet-and-greet the Red Arrows pilots in the RAF Experience area. Due to demand, this was on a first-come, first-served basis using a token system. Tokens were available for collection 90 mins before the start of each session on all three days from Red Arrows ground staff at the team's marquee in the RAF Experience area. One token permitted two people to enter a queue to meet the pilots.
- "A true credit to the RAF, very informative and engaging."
- "Every part of it was excellent. All the personnel on duty were fun, approachable, helpful and informative. Nothing was too much trouble and I would have thought this would all have been an excellent recruiting tool."
- "The RAF crews on duty were great and their interaction with the public was exceptional. I witnessed a group of Help the Heroes supporters ask a pilot what he flew and if they could have a photograph with him. Both he and his co-pilot then promptly said "Come with us" and they walked a long way back to their Tornado, took them under the barrier and grouped them all together for a great few shots with them all and the aircraft. Sheer class."
