One of the new breed of ultralight aircraft that offer looks, quality and performance comparable with many pricier machines, the two-seat teamEurostar was developed by Czech firm Evektor. It is powered by a Bombardier Rotax 912UL engine of 80hp, giving a maximum level speed of 125mph, and is available both ready to fly or in kit form. The airframe is constructed entirely of aluminium, which, the manufacturer claims, offers greater durability and crash protection than composites. Over 1,000 examples of the teamEurostar are currently flying. A new model, the Eurostar SL, is now offered, this having a wider cockpit than the standard machine.
