The Swiss Air Force operates fifteen AS332M1 Super Puma transport helicopters. Flown by two pilots the aircraft can carry up to eighteen passengers or loads of up to 3,000kg. Two thirds of Swiss Air Force Super Puma pilots fly on active squadrons such as Lufttransportstaffel 6 (Air Transport Squadron 6) which is providing a flying example at RIAT 2014. The squadron is one of the largest air transport units in Switzerland, based as Alpnach. The remainder of the pilots work with civilian companies in support of engineering projects associated with the military fleet and one such aircraft will be provided to the RIAT 2014 static park by RUAG Aviation which conducts engineering, upgrade programmes, system integrations and logistical management for the Swiss Air Force Super Pumas.
