North American P-51D Mustang

P-51D Mustang, 'Miss Helen' has had a varied life, built in 1944 and flying with the 352nd Group, part of the 8th Air Force. The 352nd were a successful outfit, destroying over 770 enemy aircraft and resulting in 29 'aces' amongst its pilots.

Following the Second World War, Miss Helen served with the Swedish Air Force until 1953, when she was sold to, and saw her final operational service with, the Israeli Air Force.

Restoration work began in 1987 and the aircraft has appeared in the airshow circuit on and off since then. Miss Helen was sold to a new owner in September 2015 and will be appearing in the Heritage Flypast at this year's Air Tattoo.
