The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises (RAFCTE), owned by The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, is best known for staging the world's largest military airshow - The Royal International Air Tattoo - each year at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.   

Our mission is to raise funds and represent the work of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust by promoting the Royal Air Force and inspiring young people and RAF personnel to fulfil their potential in air, space, and technology.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Sustainability Coordinator to join the People & Sustainability Department to support the wider Company to develop and implement plans to realise our ambitions and commitment to improve.  You will oversee the Sustainable Event Management System (ISO 20121) and delivery of sustainable development initiatives including reducing the company’s carbon emissions in line with statutory and internal targets. 

 Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Responsibility for the documented SEMS and maintain certification to ISO 20121 
  • Advising on current legislation and best practice, ensuring that any new legislative changes are brought to the attention of the People & Sustainability Director 
  • Contribute to the setting of KPIs  
  • Support and encourage business case development to consider more sustainable ways of working and opportunities at RIAT  
  • Deliver relevant training programmes to employees and volunteers as appropriate 
  • Provide relevant responses for customer information requests in a timely manner 
  • Attend and act as secretary to the monthly Company Sustainability Working Group 
  • Coordinate project activity to enhance future business performance. For example, eliminate waste, carbon reduction, recycling initiatives 
  • Draft proposals and reports for Company Board meetings and annual report as required  
  • Work with Marketing and PR to develop and deliver an appropriate sustainability communication plan  
  • Maintain personal knowledge and continuing professional development (Sustainable Development) to enable you to act as a focal point for a source of competent advice for departments and employees 
  • Other related responsibilities and projects may be assigned   

Type of Contract/Working Hours:

Permanent
36.25 hours per week. All employees are required to work the Saturday or Sunday before the Royal International Air Tattoo and the whole weekend of the event

What We Will Offer:

A salary up to £35,000 is accompanied by pension and we also hold staff wellbeing and social events throughout the year.

About You:

Skills 
  • Strong track record of influencing and developing
relationships at a senior level 
  • Excellent written English language and oral communication skills 
  • Strong project and time management expertise 
  • Analytical  
  • Excellent attention to detail with an aptitude for presenting complex information 
  • Advanced MS Excel/PowerPoint skills and proficiency in MS Office 
  • Highly motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills 
 
Knowledge 
  • Current trends, resources and information relating to event
    sustainability (essential) 
  • Event management (essential) 
  • Databases and presentation software
    (essential) 
  • IT literate(essential) Excel  
 
Education and Experience 
  • Business Management Systems e.g. ISO standards 14001 or 20121 
  • Operational delivery, preferably at events  
  • Project Management   
  • Knowledge of Carbon Accounting and statutory reporting requirements 
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and the effective use of corporate performance metrics 
  • An understanding of the principles of effective risk management 
  • Policy and procedural writing
