The Black Eagles have landed

Published: 23 May 2022   updated: 16 Jan 2023

After ten years, the legendary South Korean Display Team are back at RIAT!

It's been ten years since the roar of South Korean KAI T-50s echoed through the skies above RAF Fairford. Like most of the spectators on the ground, we all thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see the legendary Black Eagles aerobatics team in action. But we were wrong!

A decade later, we're thrilled to announce the return of 53rd Air Demonstration Group to RIAT. This time, they're returning with eight of the even more advanced KAI T-50B jets, specially-painted in their trademark black, white, and yellow.

Famed for their pinpoint accuracy and sophisticated manoeuvres, their jaw-dropping repertoire includes the now-famous "Taegeuk" - a representation of the South Korean flag drawn in aerial smoke. In fact, RIAT will be the only UK event where visitors can experience the Black Eagles' full exhilarating display.

During the show, you'll be on the edge of your seat, but the skilled pilots will be thrust to the back of theirs: at some points during their manoeuvres, the pilots experience g-force nine times greater than Earth's gravity and reach speeds of hundreds of miles per hour.

Too extreme to believe? Come and see (and hear) it for yourself this summer, as the skies above RAF Fairford are once again filled with the rumble of technology, speed, and awe-inspiring skill.
