Airbus 'Go' for Air Tattoo Mission

Published: 07 Mar 2019   updated: 08 Mar 2019

Space will be a core theme for the 2019 Air Tattoo as the show takes place on the weekend of the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the Moon. We are pleased to team up Airbus Defence & Space for two amazing 'missions' at this year's show!

Airbus DS will be showcasing an ExoMars rover prototype in the Techno Zone ®. Visitors will be able to see this full-scale working rover drive across a simulated Martian surface and talk to the scientists and engineers responsible for operating it. We will also be bringing you amazing satellite imagery of the 2019 Air Tattoo - including a photo of the showground on Friday 19 July from the Airbus DS Pleiades satellite system (cloud cover permitting!).

Both the ExoMars rover and Pleiades gives us amazing access to current and future space exploration. Half a century after the first Moon landing, an unprecedented feat of engineering, scientific and human endeavour, the Air Tattoo will be the place to celebrate this achievement and inspire the next generation.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Television Presenter

“All the thrills, excitement and noise of a Grand Prix, but in the air!”

Jenson Button, Former Formula 1 Racing Driver

“Probably the most complete air show I’ve ever been to!”

Al Worden, Apollo 15 Astronaut

“This is THE best airshow!”

Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
