Air Marshal Sir Julian Young KBE CB

Air Marshal Sir Julian Young served for 40 years in the RAF as an Engineer Officer.

He held a variety of appointments in maintenance, logistics, training and policy. His final appointment was as Director General Air in MOD Defence Equipment & Support, where he was also a member of the Air Force Board and the RAF's Chief Engineer.

For his last 5 years of Service, he was the MOD's Defence Engineering Champion and promoted STEM outreach activity for youngsters and professional registration for all the Armed Forces Engineers and Technicians.

He was appointed Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the New Year's Honours List 2020. Sir Julian has been associated with the Royal International Air Tattoo for several years, becoming a Vice President of the Charitable Trust in 2011, a Vice Patron in 2016 and a Trustee in 2020.
