Trust Gives Wings To Microlight Association

Published: 11 Nov 2016   updated: 15 Nov 2016

The RAF Charitable Trust has granted more than £29,500 to the RAF Microlight Flying Association towards the purchase of a new Eurostar SL Microlight for the RAF Halton Microlight Club.

The new aircraft will replace one of two C42B Ikarus models operated by the Association and part-funded in 2011 thanks to an earlier grant.  The new Eurostar SL will heighten performance; enhance safety, usability and long-term sustainability. It will also improve aircraft availability for hundreds of serving personnel at RAF Halton, as well as those undergoing basic flying training as a hobby or sport.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Television Presenter

“All the thrills, excitement and noise of a Grand Prix, but in the air!”

Jenson Button, Formula 1 Racing Driver

“This is the best airshow!”

Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
