Polish Package Packs A Punch

Published: 02 Jun 2016

The Polish Air Force has, once again, demonstrated its strong support for the Air Tattoo, sending both its Team Orlik aerobatics display team and its Tiger Demo Team to next month's airshow.

The Zespůł Akrobacyjny Orlik (Orlik Aerobatic Team) flies seven PZL-130TC Turbo Orlik turboprop trainers.
They first flew at RIAT in 1998, the same year the team was established as a four-ship. Since then, the team has grown in size, at one point comprising nine aircraft, before settling on the current seven-ship formation.

The PZL-130TC Turbo Orlik began life in 1984 as a piston engine version, later being upgraded to the current turboprop-powered Turbo Orlik in 1994. The team is based at Radom-Sadkow in Poland and they represent the 2nd Basic Flying Training Centre.

Joining Team Orlik will be an F-16C from the Tiger Demo Team, making its UK debut display since forming last year. The Tiger Demo Team is based at the 31st Air Base (Poznań Krzesiny), the largest Polish Air Force station, equipped with Block 52+ F-16s.

“It was an epic spectacle, as magical as anything you've ever seen in the West End, and as loud as anything you've ever heard at Knebworth.”

Jeremy Clarkson, Television Presenter

“All the thrills, excitement and noise of a Grand Prix, but in the air!”

Jenson Button, Formula 1 Racing Driver

“This is the best airshow!”

Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11 Astronaut
