Royal Danish Air Force C-130J-30 Hercules

A Royal Danish Air Force C-130J-30 Hercules - a stretched version of the standard C-130J - from the Air Transport Wing based at Alborg will be on static display at this summer's Air Tattoo.

The C-130J 'Super' Hercules is the newest version of the venerable C-130 Hercules and the only model still produced. Though similar in appearance to its predecessors, the J model is a very different aircraft.

These differences include new Rolls-Royce Allison AE2100 turboprops with six-bladed propellers, digital avionics, reduced crew requirements (2 pilots - no navigator or flight engineer), increased reliability and lower operating costs.

The C-130J-30 is the stretched version of the C-130J. The cargo floor length of the stretched version is increased from 40ft to 55ft which gives a significant increase in the aircraft's airlift capability.

Royal Danish Air Force has four C-130J-30s in service as of January 2012 and they perform a tactical airlift role.
