AH-64D Apache - Netherlands

A static example of the Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopter will be provided by the Royal Netherlands Air Force, part of the Dutch Defence Helicopter Command and stationed at Gilze-Rijen. A total of 29 such machines are in Dutch service, having seen heavy operational usage in Afghanistan from 2004-10. Primary armament consists of Hellfire missiles, Hydra 70 2.75in rockets and the 30mm rounds of the M-230 chain gun, the latter being aimed using the pilot's helmet. Able to switch roles in a single mission between close protection of ground troops, reconnaissance and attack, the AH-64D is a very flexible battlefield weapon.
