Gazelle

Westland Gazelle HT3

The Westland Gazelle light helicopter served the British armed forces in a wide range of roles, and continues to see limited use with the Army Air Corps and QinetiQ. The Royal Air Force, Royal Navy and Army Air Corps all employed the Gazelle as a trainer; to the Army, it was an important anti-tank, observation and reconnaissance platform; it supported operations by Royal Marines Commandos; and the RAF even flew some as VIP transports. All of these roles are remembered by the ex-military Gazelles of the Gazelle Squadron Display Team, based near Wantage in Oxfordshire. It has a number on strength, of which one will be appearing in the static at RIAT 2022 and a second will be acting in a support capacity.
