Lockheed Hercules C5 - UK

The RAF's original two variants of the Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules family were designated as the Hercules C.4 in stretched-fuselage configuration and the Hercules C.5 in short-fuselage form. In total, 24 aircraft across both versions were delivered and based at RAF Brize Norton and its primary role is to provide tactical air transport in support of British forces, carrying cargo or troops. Other tasks include strategic transport and support of special forces. Following the delivery of the Atlas C1 it was announced in September 2021 that the entire Hercules fleet would be retired by 2023. This will be the final time we will see this workhorse at RIAT.
