DISABLED FACILITIES / ACCESSIBILITY AT THE AIR TATTOO
The Air Tattoo is a very large event, set on an airfield around 2 miles in length. We have tried to minimise the need to walk long distances with our free showground shuttle buses and electric scooter/manual wheelchair hire, but please be aware that the event may not be suitable for everybody, especially those with restricted mobility.
There is a large amount of hardstanding along the Showground where the static aircraft are parked, however there is also a grassed area from the hardstanding to the crowdline. Please be aware that the grass length might be long because of the management of birds on the airfield. The grassed areas can be uneven in places and are therefore not always practical for electric scooters, wheelchairs or for those with restricted mobility.
What we offer:
- Free of charge PA/Carer ticket with a paying adult (conditions apply)
- Disabled Enclosure
- Designated Disabled Car Parks
- Electric Scooter/Manual Wheelchair hire (through the Event Mobility Charitable Trust)
To apply for a PA/Carer ticket, places in the Disabled Enclosure and to order your RIAT Disabled Parking Permit please call our Customer Services Department on 01285 713 456 (Mon-Fri 9.00am - 5.00pm) or email your evidence to moc/etcfar//seiriuqne. Disabled Parking Permit / Designated Disabled Car Parks
Visitors with a Blue Badge are entitled to park in the Designated Disabled Car Parks. Please ensure you have your Blue Badge details to hand when calling to book your parking.
Visitors who receive the higher/enhanced mobility component of DLA/PIP, can apply for a RIAT Disabled Parking Permit which will allow them to park in the designated disabled car parks.
Visitors who hire an electric scooter/manual wheelchair from the Event Mobility Charitable Trust, but do not have a Blue Badge or receive the higher/enhanced mobility component of DLA/PIP can also apply for a RIAT Disabled Parking Permit allowing them to park in the Designated Disabled Car Parks. Please have your Event Mobility booking reference number to hand when calling to book.
There is no designated disabled car park in the Blue Car Parks and we recommend that visitors with mobility difficulties do not park here as they are all field car parks with uneven ground and are some distance from the Blue Customer Entry Point.

There are disabled/accessible toilets in each toilet block on the showground.
There are also disabled/accessible toilets and a High Dependency Unit (HDU) in the Disabled Enclosure.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme®
The Royal International Air Tattoo is proud to be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme®
Not all people with hidden disabilities require assistance. But if you do, wearing your Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard at the Royal International Air Tattoo discreetly indicates that you may need additional support or just a little more time.
If you are wearing the lanyard, the Air Tattoo Crew and other Air Tattoo volunteers should recognise it and understand that you have a hidden disability and that you may need a little extra help or time. However, they will not know what your hidden disability is, or what challenges and issues you may face. If you have specific requirements, please ask a member of the Air Tattoo Crew for help.
Please be aware that whilst the Air Tattoo Crew and other Air Tattoo volunteer staff will be aware of the Sunflower Lanyard scheme, we cannot guarantee that traders, exhibitors or static aircraft crew on the showground will know about it. It should therefore not be assumed that visitors wearing Sunflower Lanyards will get priority in queues etc.
