What to do on the ground at this year's Royal International Air Tattoo
- 14th Jul 2025
Whilst there is plenty of action in the air over RAF Fairford at this year’s Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT), there is still plenty on the ground too. With an extensive static display, a vastly expanded Techno Zone® and an Inspire Stage schedule that is bursting at the seams, this year’s RIAT promises to be enthralling for visitors who are heading to the rural airfield.
Taking place later this week, the annual airshow is set to welcome over 170,000 people to RAF Fairford where hundreds of aircraft will be showcasing their capabilities in front of the public.
However, there is still a host of exciting opportunities for visitors on the ground in Gloucestershire, from catching Tim Peake on the Inspire Stage, engaging in STEM activity in the Techno Zone® or completing the newly launched RIAT trail across the showground.
RAF Charitable Trust’s Head of Charitable Development Hannah Langford is looking forward to sharing three packed days on the Inspire Stage.
She said: “We’re thrilled to have so many fantastic speakers joining us to share their passions. As well as the return of Tim Peake and the Red Arrows, we’re delighted to welcome Rachel Riley to the Inspire Stage for the first time, talking about why she is trying to help everyone learn to like maths.
“You can also hear from Williams Esport, find out how Minecraft could take you to a job in Silicon Valley, meet one of the team who made the lightening ascent of Everest earlier this year, and hear from a pilot of a spy plane.
“It’s a hugely varied line-up, showcasing STEM, aviation and space, with something for everyone.”
Techno Zone® is back for 2025—bigger, bolder, and more innovative than ever. Now spanning the size of 15 tennis courts, this year’s reimagined experience showcases over 40 cutting-edge exhibits, offering an unparalleled look into the future of technology.
The newly rebranded Techno Zone® introduces dynamic new features, including first-time exhibits from tech giants Amazon and CGI.
A major highlight is the sustainable STEM stand from title sponsor Lockheed Martin—constructed entirely from fully recyclable Swedboard—demonstrating that innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
Kate Whinney Techno Zone® and Sponsorship Manager said: “It’s great to be back with a bigger Techno Zone® for 2025, full of fun, hands-on exhibits for young people. We’re shining a spotlight on STEM in a big way this year—with a fresh new look, seven brand-new exhibitors, and loads to explore, it’s definitely one to check out.”
