PZL Mielec Lim 2

PZL-Mielec Lim-2

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 (NATO reporting name: Fagot) was an early swept-wing jet fighter which rose to fame during the Korean War, where it outclassed most Western jet fighters of the time until the F-86 Sabre was rushed into the theatre to counter the threat. Over 13,000 examples have been built, and the type remains in operational service in North Korea with the Korean People’s Army Air Force.

The MiG-15 was also licence-produced in Poland as the Lim-1 and later the Lim-2 with over 700 examples eventually seeing service. A number of Polish aircraft were also converted into two-seat trainers and were redesignated the SBLim-2. The Lim-2 was retired from Polish service during the early 1990s, and some have found their way into civilian ownership. FUBAR Aviation are based in Warsaw, where they operate a Lim-2 and SBLim-2 (MiG-15UTI), they have recently also acquired an airworthy Lim-5 (MiG-17F).

Making its static display debut at RIAT26 as part of our ‘Fighter Meet’ theme will be FUBAR Aviation’s Lim-2.
