Introducing...Dash & Ava!
We’d like to introduce to you our new RIAT mascots, Dash and Ava!
Flight Lieutenant Dash and Flight Lieutenant Ava embody the leadership, dedication, and excellence of the RAF. They are both RAF Typhoon pilots!
With a strong connection to aviation heritage, Dash and Ava will engage visitors of all ages, encouraging everyone to explore the world of flight.

Why the name Dash?
In aviation, a ‘dash’ is important. A dash appears in many aircraft names, such as the F-16. And although morse code is not widely used in modern-day aviation, it is part of aviation history. Morse code is made up of dots and dashes.
Why the name Ava?
Ava is short for Aviator, which in the RAF is a highly skilled person who operates aircraft as a pilot. Did you know that the word aviator is derived from the Latin word ‘avis’ (meaning bird)?
Look out for Dash and Ava in the central showground area near the Techno Zone!
